Making Reading the Heart of Summer Adventures
Summer is the perfect time to spark a love for reading! That’s why Pickerington Local Schools, the Pickerington Public Library, and the YMCA are coming together to make reading a shared celebration with Read with Me, Pickerington—a community-driven effort to foster a love of books and prevent the summer slide.
On June 2, we’ll launch Read with Me, Pickerington—an initiative designed to build confident, lifelong readers while bringing families and neighbors together through stories. Plus, you could win your own home library with $500 worth of books from Scholastic.
Join us for weekly reading sessions every Monday from June to August at various Pickerington Public Library locations—including the Main, and Sycamore Plaza Branches at 3:30 p.m.
In addition to these Monday sessions, we’ll also host special reading events at partner locations, on June 25th at the Tussing Elementary Playground at 11:00 a.m., July 7th at 1:00 p.m., at the Jerry L. Garver YMCA (6767 Refugee Road), and on July 9th at the Tussing Elementary School Playground at 11:00 a.m.
Caring volunteers will read alongside young learners, making books come alive and strengthening literacy skills.
Here are the dates and times to sit-in on a reading session with our special guest readers:
